I’m engaged! Now what?

engaged now what

Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, especially if this is the first time your family has ever planned one!  This section will give you a great head start on where to start and how to prepare.  But if you only have enough time to look over one page, start here!

1. Make these decisions first!

  • Choose a date and have a second option as back up in case your favorite vendors aren’t available.
  • Book ceremony and reception venues.
  • Hire a planner (we promise, it’s money well spent!) or a day of coordinator.

2. Make these decisions within the first two months of your engagement.

  • Establish a budget or budget guideline.
  • Book your photographer and caterer.
  • Establish your guest list and begin gathering address information.
  • Choose your attendants.
  • Send out save the dates if your wedding falls on a major holiday or is a destination for most of your guests.

3. Make these decisions up to 30 days before your wedding.

  • Find your dress and begin the fitting process.
  • Decide on your entertainment for the reception.
  • Mail your invitations (six weeks in advance is plenty of time).
  • Choose your menu and your music selections.
  • Select your florals and make design decisions about your look.

4. Have fun!  This is a special time!  Surround yourself with the people you love the most, ask for help and be sure to spend time with your fiance’.  Though it may be stressful or emotional, remember that in the end you will be married and beginning a brand new adventure in life.
