Jasmine & Korian: From ‘Thor’ to love

Korian and Jasmine met in eighth grade at Biloxi Junior High but their love story didn’t begin until years later. They reconnected via Facebook after graduating from college.

Their first date was a dinner and movie. To Korian’s surprise, Jasmine was a comic book fan and was excited about seeing “Thor 2.”

Before proposing, Korian spoke to Jasmine’s father in January 2016 about taking her hand in marriage. He was thinking Valentine’s Day would be the perfect occasion to propose but ditched that idea as too predictable. He chose Superbowl weekend to pop the question. To keep it a surprise, he had told Jasmine he would be out of town in New Orleans for the weekend. Instead, Korian and Jasmine’s sister, Denise, had hatched a plan for a surprise proposal. On Feb. 6, Jasmine thought she’d be dining out with friends, and her sister encouraged her to “dress up.” On her way out the door “to dinner with friends,” Korian turned the corner with one hand behind his back and a nervous smile on his face. Jasmine was startled and confused as her sister began pulling out her phone and recording. On queue, Korian dropped to one knee, pulled out a ring and asked Jasmine to marry him. She said “yes!”

The two wed May 28 in Biloxi at the Slavonian Lodge in front of 200 family members and friends. Jasmine says the entire day was truly special to her. Memorable moments were the vow-taking, toasts by her sister, who was the maid of honor, and Korian’s good friend, groomsman Kevin. Korian’s favorite moment was watching his beautiful bride walk down the aisle as the sun set behind her in the distance.

The two honeymooned in the Dominican Republic.

Korian is a self-employed personal trainer and owner of KPad Fitness. Jasmine is third-year medical student at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
